In 2018, Umario Diallo & Tessa Marie began their professional partnership resulting in immediate success due to their chemistry and fearless approach on the floor. Having met while social dancing and having known each other for only a short period of time, instantly they knew they had something special. Within their first year, they placed top 3 in every major RS Professional Latin Competition in the United States, leading to a consecutive placement as 2x United States Professional RS National Finalists, one being bronze medalists.For the first few years of their journey together, they endured the travel lifestyle of a long distance partnership; Umario living and teaching in Seattle, Washington, while Tessa residing and teaching in Los Angeles, California. Recently they decided together that Los Angeles, the City of Dreams, would become both of their permanent residences.
Some background achievements on Umario Diallo and Tessa Marie independently Tessa Marie, a California native, at the age of 13 became a principal dancer with the La Petit Ballet Company. For the 2 years that followed, she performed with the Moscow Ballet in their international tour of “The Nutcracker,” dancing both Spanish Chocolate and Chinese Variations. At 17, Tessa was offered a full scholarship to Joffrey Ballet in New York City, one of the most prestigious ballet schools in the United States. Completing 4 years of intense training at Joffrey, Tessa discovered the world of Latin Ballroom in New York City’s “Dance Times Square” owned by Tony Merideth and Melanie LaPatin. Beginning briefly as Pro/Am, she quickly turned Professional. Since that time, she has competed with 3 partners, becoming a 5x United States RS professional Latin finalist, including 3x United States RS Professional Latin bronze medal recipient. Other credits include acting as 2x Assistant Choreographer to Dimitry Chaplin on FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, soloist/company member for 4 years in Louie Van Amstel’s international tour of “Ballroom With A Twist”, and Assistant Choreographer for Dreamworks animated movie “Puss and Boots”.
Umario Diallo started dancing at the age of 11 years old in Ukraine and instantly fell in love with it. Shortly after, he became a two times IDU Junior World Champion in Latin and a world champion in Standard which led him to be featured in a Ukrainian national TV show called “Dance For You”. At the age of 17 he moved to Prague on his own to study where he was accepted to a full scholarship at the Ballet Conservatorium of Prague. In 2013 he decided to pursue his dreams in the United States and was featured as a choreographer on “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox. He has also been a coach and mentor to his students while they participated on “World Of Dance” on NBC. As competitive dancer, at the age of 21, he created a dance team called ‘Invictus’ in Seattle, Washington. Due to his coaching, His students have became national champions and finalists, putting “Invictus” on a map as one of the strongest youth schools of Ballroom Dancing in America.
